Unknown Neuropathy

Quidding (spitting out balled up, half-chewed hay) from an unknown neurological disease.

Presumptive seizure in a horse.

I started to float this horse, but soon she started this. The seizure behavior seen here is reproducible if I don’t take time to allow her to prevent it. But when she is allowed time, she will not be triggered to seize due to stress.

This horse could not chew, was drooling, and kept his tongue stuck out. He was inappetent and his gums were pale and he was depressed. There were no tooth abnormalities. After the dental exam, he immediately went back to chewing and acted hungry for grain and hay, though it lasted only for a few hours. The teeth were sharp but there were no ulcers. UNFORTUNATELY, he was euthanized 2 days later. There was no autopsy. He was currant with his rabies vaccinations. There was no clover in his paddock.
