Hi Everyone,
My name is Elizabeth. I am the proud guardian of three horses: Solo, Clipper, and Tom Collins.
Solo is my heart horse, my once-in-a-lifetime true pony love. Earlier this year, we celebrated Solo’s 26th birthday and our 21st year as best friends and competition partners. During our younger years, you could find us zooming…

Rounds With Doc T - “Horse Fencing, Gates, Maintenance And Safety” - 2021 August 30th
I commented during the webinar that I use corrugated, flexible drain pipe on top fence boards to protect the boards from my cribber. As requested, here are a couple of photos. I buy a 50′ section at Home Depot (inexpensive) and cut as needed. This is a stiff material, stays put, and lasts a long time. Easily replaced and doesn’t look horrible on…

SBM available from Southern States
Thanks for the tip, Kathy. I assume the 1/4″ screen is the best size to allow the SBM through while trapping the extraneous matter? I have found a few stray corn kernels and some pellets. I’ll give the screen a try!

SBM available from Southern States
I’ve found a large variety of things in my SBM from various sources. I’ve taken to screening all SBM before feeding to my horses. I found some nifty gold-miners screens on Amazon that fit on a five-gallon bucket.
SE Patented Stackable 13-1/4″ Sifting Pan, 1/4″ Mesh Screen – GP2-14…

Maybe a testimonial, maybe an anecdote...
I didn’t mention the diet change, so it was definitely her own observation. And in the hoof and sole department, heaven knows we can use all the help we can get 🙂

Maybe a testimonial, maybe an anecdote...
@JulianneR I often ask horse owners to not tell their farriers / trimmers of the diet change and then wait for them to volunteer unbiased comments like this.
It usually takes about 2 to 4 months to “suddenly” see the new hoof wall growth from the coronary band (more vertical hoof walls). However, the sole is a different story. It is maybe ½…

Maybe a testimonial, maybe an anecdote...
Hey everyone — I just started introducing soybean meal to my horse a few weeks ago. He is currently being fed beet pulp but I am needing a little time to transition him over for logistics reasons. Anyway, he was getting his hooves trimmed today, and the trimmer commented on how amazed she was that he seemed to have laid down such good hoof…
