Rounds With Doc T - "Colic In Horses" - 2022 March 28th
Colic is the word that describes any pain coming from the abdomen of the horse. The organs causing this pain are usually the intestines including the small intestines, the cecum, and the colon. It may also include the stomach, the kidneys, the spleen, the ovaries, and the uterus, or any combination of these. When any of these are not… Read more

Just an observation that others surely have made: with all the discussion around equine nutrition, I’m more acutely aware of it in other animal areas. When I switched my horse’s diet I attempted to research canine nutrition. I was quickly overwhelmed and haven’t yet found a reliable source of information.

Hey Karen! We added a new pup to our household also. I understand the questioning 😀 I have a mop always nearby! We have Airedales. I also have been questioning canine nutrition issues. Abby, our older dog has a sensitive stomach and I finally started cooking for her. Then I began feeding her Fresh Pet – which she seems to do well on. When… Read more

I have a question for everyone that I would like you to think about and ask as many other people you know too.
Have you ever had or know of a horse that has a hearing deficit in one or both ears. This includes partial as well as fully deaf.
How was this discovered? How did the horse act? What was the cause if known?
By the way, just because…

Hi Doc I don't know if I asked my question in the right place but a good friend who's feeding 4 elder mustangs is concerned about sbm being such a gmo'd form of feed. I told her I'd ask you about it. Thoughts?

Rounds With Doc T - Ask Doc T Anything - 2022 March 14th
Hi there. My question is this … I did the two week no grain challenge, however, when I started my three horses on soaked alfalfa pellets, I purchased soybean meal at my feed store who threw it in my car. I didn’t look at the bag) but it was (something like chemically extruded soybean meal). Didn’t like the sound of that, needless to say,… Read more

I personally believe that the kind and shear volume of toxins getting into our horses today is a huge problem and main ingredient in many health problems we see today. If this is indeed true, then, we need to,
- Reduce the toxins going into our horses, and
- Get the trapped toxins inside the…
