Acorns are the seeds of the oak tree. Most horses won’t eat them or only eat a few as long as there is enough grass and hay. Some horses will eat as many as they can with almost addictive behavior. Some of these will become ill from the tanic acid (same as in wine). The only treatment is fluids and possibly activated charcoal but preventing ingestion is the best option.
