Katherine Williams – is Cushing something that is prone to particular breeds. Thick crested horses. Parts of the country. Feedings throughout a horse’s lifespan?

Carol S. Brewer – I would be interested in an extensive discussion of hay. Here in SC, they have “ coastal” hay which many refuse to feed fearing colic. My barn owner feeds it with a… Read more

I have seen a variety of slow hay feeders too (see https://www.thehorsesadvocate.com/horse-farm-feeding-systems/)

However I have not seen this collapsible system in use. Of course I am partial to the Nibble Net cause I inspired the woman who makes them to make it. She lives in my town here in FL. And no, she never gave me a penny from… Read more

      Rounds With Doc T - Ask Doc T Anything - 2022 February 17th

Tonight we discussed soybean meal answering several questions (how much can I increase per day, should SBM be fed only to older horses, is there a concern with GMO or is it affecting hormones, other sources of protein, and a few more) and protein in general (a brief review of the cause of protein deficiency, mitochondrial… Read more

Rounds With Doc T - "Can Horse Owners Believe The Horse Science?" - 2022 January 31st

CAN HORSE OWNERS BELIEVE THE HORSE SCIENCE?

I created the new word “complexicate” which means “to make something more complicated than it needs to be in order to make the person (idea, issue) look more important than they really are.” Tonight’s discussion is how horse science has complexicated the caring of horses.

      Horse owners are… Read more

I’ve been delayed with updating the web site (anyone notice?) and now driving 1200 miles (1931km) to the very cold north to work on horse teeth. My apologies for the delay on this – and there is a lot to discuss here!
