To all members – I just added a new field in the member profile where you can add where you are from. This is an optional field but I think that knowing where we all generally come from adds a dimension of empowering the overall goal of helping all horses everywhere.
For me, knowing there are members from around the world means that there…

Rounds With Doc T - "Fat And Physics - 2 Reasons For Soft Tissue Injuries In Horses" - 2021 May 31st
Hi Kerry
There are a lot of possibilities here. The first thing I would ask is whether this occurs when he is engaged or does this toe dragging occur only when he is traveling without engagement. If this is the case, is the toe dragging just laziness or is there pain he is willing to forget as his brain focuses on the task at hand?
Toe…

Rounds With Doc T - "Fat And Physics - 2 Reasons For Soft Tissue Injuries In Horses" - 2021 May 31st
Thanks Doc T. My horse sometimes drags his near side hind toe in trot and I only notice it because I hear it clip the road when trotting sometimes. Our farrier routinely tries to keep his toes short as he has low heels. Typical thoroughbred I think. He raced as a youngster and I always assumed it was caused by injury/ overuse. Do you think…

Can't find SBM in Northern California
I have heard from others on the FB group asking the same thing. Then I hear from someone in Kenya who had no trouble finding SBM. It seems to be hit or miss.
Some travel an hour once or twice a month to get theirs. We are lucky as our local feed dealer is about 2 miles from us and delivers it. And they get it from Ohio.
CA is a large…

Can't find SBM in Northern California
I’m unable to find soybean meal from any of my local feed stores in California and can’t find a close substitute. Any suggestions of an alternative that is a close approximation? I’m currently supplementing with Equinety and my horses have pasture access, orchard grass hay, alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets 1.5C /day), white salt block and…

I just heard a 2 hour podcast on muscle formation and how important the creation of muscle is in overall health of humans. This is worthy of a podcast discussion as it relates to the health of our horses.
Simply put, more muscle = more places to store excess glucose without fat formation. It is an integral part of maintaining blood glucose…

Hey everyone! 15 days on the road and lots of horses seen from Florida to Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland and New York. While a lot of horses now have good teeth, what I found most fascinating was that everyone wants to know about feeding their horses. I repeated how fat forms and the role of insulin – usually 3 or more times a day.
So many…

There are 2 things here. 1) coughing and 2) clover drool.
The cough can be coming from an unlimited number of things. I see pollen dust on my parked car and this is the time of year where everyone’s allergies are starting up. The 2 to 3 week window is along this line of reasoning. It certainly can be the grass but it can also be weeds, trees,…
