Taking into consideration your hormesis information, and that we are going into winter, I plan to try feeding all of the hay in the day and try the fasting at night, roughly 5pm to 5am, and watch for signs of stress. Does this sound like a good starting point from which to closely observe her for changes?
Yes, this is a good starting point… Read more

Hi Dr T,
I wonder if you could tell me if you think I’m on the right track here, or if I’m misunderstanding anything?
Prior to hearing your podcast, which led me to your blog, and now to joining this community, this is what I was doing to try to help my horse loose weight and get healthy:
5-6 days a week of exercise, gradually increasing… Read more

Rounds With Doc T - “Horse Fencing, Gates, Maintenance And Safety” - 2021 August 30th
Hi Patrica, (Would you go in and edit your user name so we all know who you are?😉). I think that this fence looks good and sturdy. I can’t see much of the back sides of the bolt but from the one pic, I think I see a length of bolt on the backside. I would get someone to hack that off. It could be a potential danger to a horse’s eye if they… Read more

Hello, I’m Emily from California and I’ve got five horses and six children who love horses. I’ve found my way here on my search for the best way to feed these guys. Four of our horses are mustangs, just off the range, and right away they showed us that the typical domesticated horse diet was not working for them. Looking forward to more learning.

SBM available from Southern States
Our SBM here in south FL is shipped in to our feed dealer (all farm animals) from Sandusky OH. There is never any foreign material in it and it sells for $18 / 50 pound bag.
As with everything, quality is an “inside job” and you need to ask your feed dealer to find a different source of SBM. They may have to charge a bit more to receive… Read more
