@KarenM I answered this in the AMA tonight. I will try to get it uploaded ASAP but it also may be delayed until the end of this month. I’ll work on it.

Rounds With Doc T - Ask Doc T Anything - 2022 February 17th
I will be devoting a full Rounds With Doc T to Cushing’s Disease and to a discussion about hay. Both have been scheduled for 2022 but I think I might move them up in order because of your interest. Stay tuned!

Rounds With Doc T - Ask Doc T Anything - 2022 February 17th
Hey Matt,
I can’t listen in tonight but here’s a question a friend of mine would like answered, if Dr Tucker can address:
Has his suggestion for using sbm changed from feeding 1 lb to 2 lbs, and if so, what’s the basis? Couldn’t find anything on the site. Neither of her horses are in work.
Cheers, and thanks!

Hi-wondering if there could be a forum topic on discussions regarding the podcasts-I think there are many listeners and it would be fun to have a forum to discuss what our thoughts were about them. I particularly liked the one recently where you read a magazine and reported what you thought on each article. I know that we all have are areas… Read more

Exercises for building the topline
So we’ve been doing ground poles in various configurations. Sometimes using snow banks as risers for my mustang cross. Hills, backing up etc. I was carefully making sure the ground poles were flat (not on snow banks) for the standie due to the OCD in the hocks. Well, the other day they started goofing around as geldings do. The standie… Read more

We’re a couple of months in now and never going back-I will always feed SBM, or if I win the lottery, perhaps hemp meal. I did not feed grain before but I think 50% of this is getting rid of the crap in grain that actively works against people and their horses and 50% is supplying the protein they need with the SBM. I tell everyone who… Read more

Long post alert. Sorry.
In a recent podcast, @Doc-t briefly touched on sedatives vs tranquilizers and alluded to a general opinion about their use. I wondered if he could go into more detail about them and their uses outside of dentistry.
I had a novel and dangerous situation with my horse today, and it pushed me to consider what my vet and I…

Gosh @KarenM this must have been horrifying for you. Thank goodness he doesn’t look at you like that mare although that has been seen in other horses.

Incisor Reduction: To reduce or not reduce?
Hi Doc T!
I was wondering if you could explain a bit about incisor reduction and when it may or may not be necessary? I know a lot of Equine Dentists reduce the incisors without a rhyme or reason, but what about in the event of parrot mouth when the mandibular incisors are rubbing into the palate causing soft tissue damage? I am in another… Read more

Can Horse Owners Believe The Horse Science? - Rounds With Doc T ( Moved to community.thehorsesadvocate.com )From 2020 to 2022, we were asked to believe the science. The first question is this – What is science? Can it be fair? Can it be absolute? How is it measured? How do you distinguish between “good” and “bad” science?

Katherine Williams – is Cushing something that is prone to particular breeds. Thick crested horses. Parts of the country. Feedings throughout a horse’s lifespan?
Carol S. Brewer – I would be interested in an extensive discussion of hay. Here in SC, they have “ coastal” hay which many refuse to feed fearing colic. My barn owner feeds it with a… Read more
