Rounds With Doc T - Ask Doc T Anything - 2022 September 19th
Ok. Just seen your answered a question about using lupins last month. But my overall question re developing a table of EAA content and % present still stands. Would this be something viable to develop if we all could contribute our research and you could review the values?

Hi Doc T. Once again, can’t make the actual meeting owing to time zone differences.
My question…. So much to my disappointment, I have established that my horse is extremely allergic to soya. She is allergic and intolerant to many other “normal” foodstuffs commonly fed to horses. I am basically able to keep her free from discomfort… Read more

@KrissyHumptyDooNT – We have little experience feeding lupins to horses here in America. In AU, its’ use is only for 30 to 40 years. In addition, little research has been done on the bioavailability of the protein in horses making its dosing unclear.
Lupins are a legume like alfalfa, peanut, and soybean. I can tell that feeding sweet… Read more

Hi Dr T,
I’ve had my 3 horses on the no grain diet for some time now and am happy with the results. My horse with ‘Sweet Itch’ no longer requires 24 hour rugging, spraying and is a much happier horse and my horse with anhidrosis – sweats. Recently I’ve leased out my anhidrosis horse to my good friend who has asked if she can replace the SBM… Read more

Here’s one:
Best practice on feeding a two yr old (TB)–I confess to not retaining info on feeding babies from other conversations. I’m considering a particular filly and it’s been a minute since I had a youngster. She’s free of injuries and in good gastric health (an assumption); unraced but did train so they fed her accordingly. I have a… Read more- View 1 reply

Rounds With Doc T – "Inflammation In Horses" - 2022 August 28th
The gut microbiome and its relationship with our bodies are fundamental to our health—disease results from our body’s immune reaction to this relationship (inflammation). The foods and medicines placed into this gut environment determine the microbiome’s population and the immune response. When correct, health occurs.
Probiotics, like all… Read more

Rounds With Doc T – "Inflammation In Horses" - 2022 August 28th
I have suffered with sinus infections and bronchitis most of my youth. I took way too many antibiotics. I had a deviated septum, meaning a part of my nose that had excess bone growth. This may have played a part as we breathe mostly thru the nose and nose hairs filter pollutions.
Anyway, I found out later after having many years of IBS THAT… Read more
