General Dentistry – Signs Of Sharp Dental Points

There are several signs that a horse has sharp points within the oral cavity:

  • Difficulty chewing – tilting head, rapid and shallow movements, excessive drooling.
  • Difficulty with the bit – chewing, unusual bit wear, bit refusal or adverse reaction to bit cues.
  • Dropping grain/pellets – differ from poor eating habits
  • Forming quids – wads of hay spat onto the ground.
