This is an “undiagnosed” injury caused on a July 4th evening many years ago when the fireworks caused this horse to run to exhaustion. He is sound and is successfully competing in dressage with this leg. Unfortunately, about 2 years after this photo, he was euthanized.

Ruptured peroneus tertius of the left hind limb. Note the almost straight line from the cannon through the stifle caused by the tendon keeping the leg bent in this area being ruptured and no longer functional. This is not a glaring case, but it was significant enough to retire this horse from its sport and then cause his euthanasia.
