I’m thinking about trying unsweetened dried coconut chunks/chips as a treat. If it’s nothing but dried coconut and possibly sea salt, would this be a non-inflammatory option consistent with the diet?
I usually use mini alfalfa cubes as treats but am looking for something not so messy to feed to a horse with a bit in his mouth and he… Read more

I wanted to share this experience I had the other day and if anybody else here has a story similar to share as well! I had a great experience with 2 horses the other day that I wish was video taped. One horse was 30 years old, the other 12 years old. Owner was unsure when the last time their teeth were floated. Both were S5 on the sharpness…

Update: The owner texted me and said the 12 year old who was dropping handfuls of feed while eating is now not dropping any of his feed!

This is an addiction with no cure! The connection we make every day we work with horses is something, once experienced, only gets better through practice. I never tire of it. Glad you are feeling it too!

2. Pref to hear you talk rather than Q&A
3. 30 mins good
4. Intro not necessary
5/6. No pref on release timing or platform

Cold acclimation is standard but when it is unusual and sudden it can be a risk to many without preparation. But you seem to have the bases covered with rugs, blocked wind and heated water.
In my experience living in the northern climates, heated water is an amazing impaction colic prevention. We used…

So, routine for everyone living in the northern States & Europe but for us ‘southerners’ the cold snap (11 deg F forecast for Sun/Mon) is anything but. My guys are double or triple rugged w/ free hay; the barn is tarped for drafts and the water heated. What other tips can you suggest?

Hi Matt. I think about 3 weeks ago I found the site. Advice from my VET in Dec/Jan that my horse should have teeth extracted didn’t feel right so my research to find out more about EOTRH led me here! 😀
