finding the right person to float
Here is the current list:
https://www.horsemanshipdentistry.com/official-list-of-horsemanship-dentistry-school-graduates/
John Smith is listed under the Dominican Republic but he is actually Canadian and I believe he is in Ontario. I’m not sure where he is since we have not talked since the travel restrictions.
I only recommend… Read more

Do you provide a list of the folks that you have trained in floating? Any Canadians (Ontario)? Thanks.

We look forward to your observations as you get into this some more. Reduction in food aggression and the return of sweating are common observations in as little as 4 days once the gut inflammation is reduced or eliminated. I heard from a trainer that one of the 20 horses in her barn started to sleep a lot during the day but that pony’s work… Read more

Vaccinations podcast-mosquito born illness
There are several vector borne diseases and luckily for you in Canada, the bugs and mosquitos are being chilled out. Vaccination for these diseases would then be in the late spring to give protection when they fly.
The encephalitis diseases (Eastern, Western, Venezuelan and West Nile) are diseases carried by the mosquito. These can affect… Read more

Hi Angela – we are glad to have you here! Thanks for following the information – it is what “Advocates” do to find answers even though they might be “outside the box.” But when questions don’t seem to get adequate answers, we all dig deeper because our horses need solutions to the issues we see today. Behavior issues, loss of muscle,… Read more

Two geldings-3-4 days in.
For us it was about adding protein as I never fed grain. I have a track standie (1 year off the track, retired at 5, looks substantially older) and a mustang draft cross who I thought was congenitally angry but now am wondering if early IR could be a factor. He has objected to riding at the moment and… Read more

Vaccinations podcast-mosquito born illness
Hi Doc T
I have been listening to a lot of your podcasts and I wondered about vaccination for mosquito born illness-good idea? Also here in Canada rabies is still annually for horses but every 3 years for dogs. I’m wondering about frequency for rabies for horses in the US and tetanus while we’re at it. Thanks

Hi-I am Angela from Ontario Canada. I listened to the podcast on Best Horse Practises and then that led me to The Horse’s Advocate podcast and now here! I have 2 horses in my back yard-a mustang cross gelding and a track standardbred. I have not been a grain user but was fascinated by the protein discussion. I was getting a bit concerned… Read more

Should my horse's teeth be extracted due to EOTRH?
Add the Equident right away to reduce the inflammation from the EOTRH. This will help as soon as you start and the new diet will help to prevent any further advancement.
Sugar beet pulp is relatively new to the horse world (20+ years) and is a waste product of sugar extraction for human consumption. It is said to have a high glycemic index… Read more

Oh gosh, I hate lymphangitis @Kerry . I’m not sure I can add anything here that your vet hasn’t covered.
There is no doubt in my mind that horses off inflammatory foods and are supplemented with protein will do better with this disease but it will not prevent reoccurrences. I have a client who has done everything he can for his horse with a… Read more

Should my horse's teeth be extracted due to EOTRH?
I rescued a horse recently, he is a 23 year old OTTB that was eating a senior feed with beet pulp (I think Triple Crown senior) He has acclimated quickly to the SBM and cool stance alfalfa cubes and hay. But he does have pretty significant EOTRH. He has lost one bottom incisor since coming here. He grazes normally, coat is good. I see… Read more
