Reply to A couple of questions on fats/oils

As far as I know, there is little written about or research on oils being added to horses diets in regards to them and Omega 3 or 6 formation. The addition of fat to horse diets was looked at in the 1980’s as a way to provide fuel to working horses. This included the addition of corn oil and animal fat. The result was that ANY fat added to the… Read more

      Here is the current list:

      https://www.horsemanshipdentistry.com/official-list-of-horsemanship-dentistry-school-graduates/

John Smith is listed under the Dominican Republic but he is actually Canadian and I believe he is in Ontario. I’m not sure where he is since we have not talked since the travel restrictions.

We look forward to your observations as you get into this some more. Reduction in food aggression and the return of sweating are common observations in as little as 4 days once the gut inflammation is reduced or eliminated. I heard from a trainer that one of the 20 horses in her barn started to sleep a lot during the day but that pony’s work… Read more

Reply to Vaccinations podcast-mosquito born illness

There are several vector borne diseases and luckily for you in Canada, the bugs and mosquitos are being chilled out. Vaccination for these diseases would then be in the late spring to give protection when they fly.

The encephalitis diseases (Eastern, Western, Venezuelan and West Nile) are diseases carried by the mosquito. These can affect… Read more

Hi Angela – we are glad to have you here! Thanks for following the information – it is what “Advocates” do to find answers even though they might be “outside the box.” But when questions don’t seem to get adequate answers, we all dig deeper because our horses need solutions to the issues we see today. Behavior issues, loss of muscle,… Read more

Reply to Should my horse's teeth be extracted due to EOTRH?

Add the Equident right away to reduce the inflammation from the EOTRH. This will help as soon as you start and the new diet will help to prevent any further advancement.

Sugar beet pulp is relatively new to the horse world (20+ years) and is a waste product of sugar extraction for human consumption. It is said to have a high glycemic index… Read more

Oh gosh, I hate lymphangitis @Kerry . I’m not sure I can add anything here that your vet hasn’t covered.

There is no doubt in my mind that horses off inflammatory foods and are supplemented with protein will do better with this disease but it will not prevent reoccurrences. I have a client who has done everything he can for his horse with a… Read more

Hey lucky us! We gain an hour of sleep tonight!

I’m working hard developing content, recording podcasts and answering Facebook group questions (for the time being as we transfer over here more). I distributed the podcasts to the appropriate topics so now when you look up a topic you will see the podcast for that topic listed there. I’ll admit…

Don’t have an image to share, but we just sidelined half a dozen bales that were on the musty side. I always find it interesting when I hear “don’t feed moldy hay”, as the first indicator I get that hay might be borderline, before appearance or odor is apparent, is my horses’ refusal to eat it.
As an aside, I bought Standlee compressed… Read more
