Rounds With Doc T – Ask Doc T Anything – 2022 December 12th
This AMA (Ask Me Anything) covered two questions but dove into a lot of smaller issues. Here is the catalog.
2 minutes, 20 seconds: Establishing a pasture from a natural bog. We touch on drainage, removing weeds, establishing good forage, and poisonous plants (black walnut, red maple, cherry, Japanese yew). Getting a good agriculture extension agent and a ground engineer is helpful. While waiting to establish a pasture, it is important to offer hay in enough quantity to deter the horses from eating toxic plants such as bracken fern and buttercups. Ideally, the pasture should be made before turning horses out on it.
18 minutes, 16 seconds: “Gut feelings” – we discuss how one horse reflected the negative energy (worry, doubt, fear) of the owner, causing injury during loading onto a trailer and costing them money at the loss of making their veterinary appointment. Often, owners need to “dress rehearse” as well as the horse before trailering to an unknown or worrisome event.
35 minutes, 15 seconds: Another’s perspective on the trailering incident above and the ability to connect with horses and communicate your thoughts to the worried horse.
