CAN HORSE OWNERS BELIEVE THE HORSE SCIENCE?
I created the new word “complexicate” which means “to make something more complicated than it needs to be in order to make the person (idea, issue) look more important than they really are.” Tonight’s discussion is how horse science has complexicated the caring of horses.
Horse owners are bombarded with information on how to care for their horses. This information is often either conflicting with what they have learned before, confusing due to complexity or both. Worse than this is how complex things are dumbed down for the average person to understand which often twists the science into a false narrative.
Our talk tonight is on a few major topics:
- How is research done?
- How is the information from research analyzed?
- How is the conclusions of research delivered to those responsible for its distribution?
- How is the version given to the target (horse owners) related in truth to what was researched and concluded?
Spoiler alert – if the research has an agenda (and all research has at least one) then the conclusions as well as the interpretations should be suspected to some degree as, at best, not applying to YOUR horse and, at worst, false.
