Yawning when the bridle comes out
So my gelding has been doing this about 2 years and it has perplexed me a lot. It cannot mean nothing. He had what the vet thought was a secondary wolf tooth and this was removed which I thought would stop it. But it hasn’t. I had his teeth floated twice this year but it is not different. He also takes the reins if we stop and stretches way down with his head almost to the ground-he’ll do this 2-3 times in 20 minutes. Right now we’re just doing groundwork. Very basic things, eg asking him to bring his head around to the side and even in just a halter, this was a hard no for a while, like a mental block.
I am wondering about these 2 possibilities: 1. flabby cheeks and he is anticipating pain from the bit or 2. early kissing spine from lack of protein. I am not hard with my hands at all.
Tried different bits and got a saddle fitter etc. Chiro/craniosacral treatments.
Thank you for your thoughts on this-it has been perplexing me a long time.
