    Here are the timestamps.

2:15 Thrush – What is thrush, and how is it treated and prevented? I discuss hoof composition and how to feed it to obtain maximum health, provide for its immune defense, and treat thrush using a simple, inexpensive, and effective technique.

24:15 The effect of an all-forage diet plus soybean meal on lab numbers – I report several positive results from 2 farms where changing the diet to all-forage plus high-quality protein effectively lowered the lab results for ACTH (Cushing’s Disease) and insulin (Metabolic syndrome) to normal values.

29:35 What is Cushing’s Disease? – I discuss in depth what this disease represents and why a medicine for Parkinson’s disease is the treatment. I discuss the other diseases associated with PPID pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction. Specifically, I try to understand why a mini horse grows a full winter coat while on pergolide and cyproheptadine in the spring/summer.

55:43 – I have had my Fjords on SBM (soybean meal) since January 1. Both have lost 100# each. The older one is still heavy, but the 13-year-old is the ideal weight. She had a poor top line and muscle spasms, and overall poor muscling. I’ve had her on 1.2#/day and weighs 879#. Should I drop her to the 1#/1200# or continue the higher dose until her top line improves? She’s in moderate to hard work carriage driving. The older one gets 0.8#/day weight is 1030# in very little work. They have not had an official diagnosis of metabolic disease, but at least they are pre-metabolic. I am thrilled about soybean meal and no grain. Glinda, the younger one, looks fantastic except for the top line.

1:04:00 – My horse is still losing muscle. She is lightweight now (about 850 lbs). Does coconut oil have a role here to preserve weight? Only in fall to increase weight for winter? Top line loss, but now I see thighs are lighter.

1:11:11 A discussion of joint injections. – (See the reply below for the exact question.) What do they do, and are they effective? Are there other non-invasive ways to relieve pain for horses with stiff or arthritic joints?

Hi Doc T! Hope all is well.
My horse’s previous owner had been doing hock and stifle injections once a year. Cortisone and HA. I didn’t see an issue until recently when I started noticing stiffness and discomfort behind. It had been 1 year 8 months since he was last treated. I had my vet come and do flexion tests and we ended up injecting both hocks and both stifles. I was trying to avoid this procedure but the horse clearly was sore and I’ve noticed a big difference since injecting his joints. I asked about adding a joint supplement to his feed. My vet recommended Cosequin ASU. I have been trying to take a more holistic approach with this horse. I’m realizing I have to combine eastern and western medicine at times to best serve my horse.
Question 1: What are your thoughts on joint injections?
Question 2: What are your thoughts on joint supplements?
Cosequin ASU has the inactive ingredients of mixed tocopherols, artificial and natural apple flavor, silicon dioxide, and soy protein isolate. I remember learning not to mix sources of vitamin E (I can’t remember the technical terms) but would “mixed tocopherols” with D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate be an issue? Also not loving the artificial flavoring.
    Thanks 😊
