Possible THO?
I have a client of 4 years just text me and say one of her horses developed THO in August and needs his teeth floated again. I floated him in July 2024. He is aged at 19 and is a Rocky Mountain Kentucky Saddle Horse. His symptoms were eating sloppy and ear and eye dropping to one side, as well as the mouth. No riding issues. I have not experienced this before with a client so I’m unsure what to expect when floating. What experience do you have with this disease? I am attaching pictures of him that she sent me, including his incisors that she believes need to be addressed.

This is Horner’s aka Bell’s Palsy, and is associated with THO. In my experience, it doesn’t affect the teeth, but it may be difficult to float them due to pain from THO. Here is a link to what I’ve written on this website:

Bell’s Palsey or Horner’s Syndrome is a paralysis of one side of the face usually caused in horses by trauma.
