Hi everyone — My name is Julianne, and my horse, Remi, is a 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood. I have owned him for almost four years and have been learning new things since day one! He was a jumper in his previous career and was retired due to suspensory issues. After lots of trial and error and two more rounds of rehab, he has been sound for the past two years and in good health overall. He is an easy keeper and is currently overweight, having gained some summer pounds. I am working on getting him exercising more regularly and building up his strength, as well as looking into ways I can tweak his diet/food management to help him maintain an healthier weight. My goal as a horse owner is to keep learning all I can to keep him healthy, sound, and happy into his golden years! I’m happy to have found The Horse’s Advocate and look forward to learning and connecting with like-minded horse owners.

Welcome @JulianneR I love this quote from you: “My goal as a horse owner is to keep learning all I can to keep him healthy, sound, and happy into his golden years!” This is exactly the reason for this website and my goal as well. My job is to cut through the misinformation and then translate what is good for your horse in a way we all can understand.

I’m looking forward to your experience with taking what you learn and applying it to Remi. I expect you to ask questions and to challenge what is here with what you have learned elsewhere so that we all can grow and discover together.

We are still a small group but we are definitely “like-minded.” I look forward to our phone call tomorrow. Doc T
