    Hello Everyone,

My name is Lancette. I live in Mesa, Arizona. I am blessed to have 4 wonderful Arabian horses in my barn. My passion is Endurance riding but I appreciate many horse disciplines and wish I had the time to participate in them. Above all, the relationship I have with my horse is the most important thing to me. Through many wonderful teachers I have learned more about horses in the past 5 years than in the 20 years prior. I am excited to be a member of The Horse’s Advocate to continue my education and to share with like minded people. I look forward to learning and sharing.

Welcome Lancette! Thanks for coming on board. I am working on developing a safe place for ideas to come forward that might be controversial relative to what we all have been taught about caring for horses. This stems from asking “Why?” all the time. The fact you have learned more in the last 5 years is probably because you too have been asking “Why?” a lot and not really getting straight answers. fortunately human doctors and researchers are also asking more questions and digging deeper for better answers.

Over time we will get there. You joining and becoming part of this community inspires me to keep digging. My goal is to meet and exceed everyone’s expectations of learning more and finding better answers. Thanks! Doc T

      Doc T,

Thank you for all you are doing to help horses. It is a long story with my girl but so far it looks like she is back and we are becoming a team again. I have had her on SBM since September and we have now competed in 3 Endurance rides with another one coming this Saturday. She looks great and is happy moving down the trail. The best part is she is letting me groom her and touch her without showing her displeasure. I tried so many things to fix her. Regumate, medical tests, teeth floating, ulcer treatments, numerous supplements, massage therapy, horsemanship training etc. My mistake was not related to grain but I was not feeding enough protein. I added alfalfa and SBM. So far she is a different horse and I could not be happier. Thank you! Since a photo is worth a thousand words I have attached a couple. The very unhappy face is before the SBM. My massage therapist was getting ready to do some very light work on her, she had not even touched her at this point. The other photo is of us coming into a second place finish on a 50 mile ride in November. I love my horse and I am so happy she is happy! Thank you again!

Please make a detailed post of your experience with this diet in the forum called no grain challenge. It will help others. Thanks!
