Hey everyone! I thought I would share a little of my horse’s journey regarding his nutritional development. We got Santana in October 2021. He had a ewe neck and no top line. His manure was the consistency of cow flops, and he was constantly dirty under his tail and down his hind legs. We immediately removed all grain and put him on timothy/orchard hay, timothy pellets, and 1lb of soybean meal twice a day. Then I turned him out. When the new hay came in this year, his manure became watery. Geoff took a wheelbarrow and put a drain in it so that I could soak his hay every day and night. You can see the results in the last picture below. (This change occurred in 4 days) He has not gone into training yet; this is all from nutrition. The first picture is “before” in October; the next two are “after.”
