        Another sudden cardiac event. I haven’t yet read any theories about why this happens, or if it happens in other breeds. Heartbreaking none the less.

          Back in 1975 a TB stallion at our barn covered a mare and upon dismounting, circled and died on the spot. Our own TB stallion died suddenly – found in the paddock one morning with grass in his mouth. The sudden death of Thoroughbreds has been around for a while and there is no causation yet determined for sudden death. Is it just in stallions? Is it the heart or is it an aorta aneurism?  This would be a good retrospective study.

          If anyone else has some information on this we would love to hear it. Doc T
